Where to Eat Gluten-Free in Coventry and Warwickshire

Finding delicious gluten-free food when eating out can sometimes feel like a challenge - but I’m always on the lookout for cafés and restaurants that make it easy and enjoyable. Living in the West Midlands, I’m lucky to have some lovely spots on my doorstep that not only cater for coeliacs but also make eating out a real treat. So whether you’re local or planning a visit, here are some of my favourite places to eat out in Coventry and Warwickshire.

1. Mocha Lounge, Coventry

Mocha Lounge is one of my go-to cafés in Coventry for a relaxed lunch or coffee catch-up with friends. They offer a lovely gluten-free ham and cheese toastie, which comes with a fresh side salad, and I had to sample their gluten-free chocolate brownie (all in the name of research, of course!).

Their cake selection is always tempting, and they cater well for both gluten-free and vegan diets, so there’s something for everyone. The café has a cosy, modern vibe, and while it’s great for solo visits or a chat over coffee, I’d recommend booking ahead if you’re planning to go as a group—especially if there are more than two of you.

2. Bella Italia, Coventry

When it comes to Italian food, Bella Italia has quickly become my go-to. They offer gluten-free pizza bases, and I always order the vegetarian pizza—which happens to be loaded with all my favourites.

It’s been my choice for the last few birthday meals, and it’s also our spot before or after seeing a show at the theatre in town. The gluten-free options are clearly marked, and the staff are really helpful if you have any questions. It feels like a treat without the worry.

3. Sage, Earlsdon

I was really sad when a favourite café of mine in Earlsdon, Emily’s, closed down—but just across the road on the high street, I found Sage, and it’s every bit as good. It’s a spacious, friendly spot with plenty of room between tables and even some outdoor seating, perfect for sunny days.

My usual order is an egg mayo sandwich with a pot of tea, though when it’s hot out, I’ll switch things up with a milkshake. I haven’t yet tried their cakes, but the staff are always happy to answer questions about the menu, including dietary needs, which makes a big difference when eating out gluten-free. Bonus—there are no stairs to navigate, making it a great accessible option too.

3. Harringtons on the Hill, Kenilworth

Tucked away in beautiful Kenilworth, Harringtons on the Hill is a lovely little spot my family discovered through a friend of my mum’s—and I’ve been back several times since. My first visit was for a gluten-free afternoon tea with friends, and it was absolutely delightful.

The food is beautifully presented, and the surroundings make it perfect for a special treat or a relaxed Sunday outing. Kenilworth itself is one of my favourite places for a wander, so combining that with a lovely lunch or tea stop is always a win.

4. The Oken Tea Rooms, Warwick

If you're ever in Warwick, make sure you don’t miss The Oken Tea Rooms. We stumbled across this charming little tearoom as a family and were thrilled to find they offer gluten-free versions of their delicious cakes and treats.

Everything we had tasted freshly homemade and full of flavour. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff are so friendly, and there’s just something really lovely about the whole experience. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down and savour every bite.

More Local Favourite….

There are still a few more places I love - like Kitchen126, Farmers Fayre, and the trusty M&S Café—which I’ll be sharing more about soon. Whether it's brunch with friends, a cosy lunch for one, or a celebratory meal, it’s wonderful to know that gluten-free options are out there and done well.

If you’re coeliac, gluten intolerant, or simply trying to avoid gluten, I hope this little list gives you some new favourites to explore around Coventry and Warwickshire. And if you have any recommendations I’ve not tried yet—let me know! I’m always happy to do more “research”.

Before you go…
